About The Artist
David Michael Connolly
I make large drawings about the parts of history that got edited out.
Graphite and charcoal, worked slowly and at a scale that won't let you glance at it. I'm interested in the figures who sit just off the side of the official record, like, the wives, the servants, the ones named once in a footnote, and in what it takes to look at them long enough to see them properly. The drawings take months. That's not incidental; the time is part of the argument.
Education
MFA, Visual Arts, University of Tulsa, 2001
BFA, University of Tulsa, 1997
Up and Coming Selected Exhibitions
2026 — Alumni & Family Art Exhibition, TAG, Addison, Texas
