ARTIST STATEMENT
I am interested in a beauty found in hope, mystery, surviving trauma, and meditating on death.
The works reflect this, and shared fears, desires, beliefs, and rituals mined from poetry, folklore, and myth. My imagery features fragments of literary and visual works, some of which came from artists, writers and thinkers centuries ago, responding to their African, European and American environments in ways I imagine similar to how I respond to mine, as they are my ancestors.
